When ex-lawyer turned fisherman, Steve Myers' (Billy Connolly) boat is destroyed by lightening, his insurance company refuses to pay, declaring it an "act of God." Teaming up with Anne (Judy Davis), a well-known media personality who's sympathetic to his plight, Steve decides to sue God and all of the major churches in the world, in this intriguing, theological romantic comedy.
